“You might think I’m crazy but… God sent me to you.” - Kevanesce
Those are the exact words I uttered to Lauchlan and Birdie one night last year when we hardly knew each other. I’ll give the short version…
I’ve been given plenty of signs and evidence, but only once has God spoken to me in audible words. Asking for some guidance, I’m in my room, eyes closed in meditation thinking if there were to be any answer it may come as a ringing in my ear which commonly happens. Not a hint of alcohol or drugs in my system for more than a month… calm, silence… then out of nowhere… a name. Twice back to back in my mind a name was repeated in my own voice. My immediate response was Thank You. The name was Lauchlan.
But what kind of random shit is that! I didn’t even know this dude! Well we had some mutual friends in the area but how do I approach something like that? Call him up and say God told me to speak to you? Tap him on the shoulder and casually ask “What do you have for me”? I turned to Facebook. Added him and shortly after that found a couple songs posted on a Facebook page titled Juxtapose. Him and that quiet dude that introduced himself as Birdie had a half ass rap group thing going on. Another answer. My immediate response was a text message “What’s up MasterLauch?”.
I already knew where they would be at that Wednesday night. Got them off to the side of a crowd of people and recited about 8 bars acapella of a 32 bar verse before I forgot the rest of it. Birdie said “he’s with us”. I told them about the god speaking to me thing which strangely they weren’t deterred by. We went back and forth for a couple minutes, they said they recorded in a basement. I’d never actually recorded anything before. Lauch said “we’re about to head over there now if you wanna check it out”. My immediate response was “Let’s go”.
